Patches ... Unsaid.
As you know, we lost Patches and Rooney on August 18th. We already had all of the articles written through September (and decided that we would proceed with what had already been drafted). We were thinking about how to move forward with this site while still giving the proper tip of our Resistol's to these two family members ... each had several unfinished "stories", there are a bunch of unpublished photos and we have a number of quotes that were waiting, tagged with their names, as companions to their stories or to use as inspiration for an article by them. We wanted to share just a few ...
This is not intended to be overly sad or mushy ... just a little final tribute to my friend ... my Buppy!
Patches: aka Patcher, aka Patchy (she thought that we were saying Apache, but she just wasn't that mean!), aka 3PO, aka Buppy, aka the Crippled Dog. Patches was run over as a puppy and her pelvis was broken, her bladder ruptured, and she lost a couple of teeth as well (including one canine - which gave her a crooked grin). Dr. Fish and his staff fixed her up the best that they could. Mom-D hand fed her canned dog food for a week or so, while she recovered. Patches healed and got around pretty well, though that one hind leg was generally in the up position when she was walking and running, and she only engaged that leg when she was REALLY after something. She would cross her rear legs when she was resting and content. Patches was extremely tolerant and sensitive; and despite her bum leg, she was always the happiest buppy on this place. Patches and Gall were littermates and they truly loved each other. She found her "voice" around mid-2013 and would greet "her people" with a demanding bark (that she learned from her mother) when they returned home or it was getting near suppertime. |
