The Border Collie Chronicles Observations from (arguably) the World's Smartest Dogs; (but, without question, the bestest friends!) or, Life As We Understand It, as told from dad's shop. |

If Your Clothes Could Talk …
A Pictorial, vol. 1 of ??
"Texasville”
(one of dad’s favorite books from his favorite author) by Larry McMurtry
was a sequel to “The Last Picture Show”, picking up with the same
characters, in the 1980s, after the Texas oil boom had gone bust. Where Picture
Show focused on Sonny, the sequel centers on Duane. Fending
off creditors, dealing badly with middle age, and drinking too much, he
reconnects with Jacy when she returns to town. But there's
not a lot of plot; rather, this is a meditation on the disappointments
that life can hand out. |

OK – if you haven’t read the book (and its prequel and sequel
(Duane’s Depressed) – or at least watched the movies – I
recommend reading the books before watching the movies) – the tie in to
this article is that Karla, Duane’s wife, is noted for wearing T-shirts
with sayings that convey her moods.
Duane (to
Karla): It
must be ten years since I've seen you wear anything I didn't have to
read. We DO recommend the books and films! |
